Aari : The Beauty of the Cobbler’s Awl
This project was a direct study into Aari embroidery as a craft. Looking into its root through field studies, working and learning from the artisans themselves, giving us a unique insight into the craft. Documenting the process through cluster studies, observing and analysing the technical work. Our look into this divine craft motivated us to keep it alive by helping the artisans with opportunities by associating them with SEWA organisation. This project also allowed, Bhagyashri Soni to serve as a group representative, organising logistics and keeping their mentor up to date throughout the project. This study was an achievement on its own as it now has a place in the National Institute of Fashion Technology’s library for the budding designers.
